Established in March 1978, the Kim Quang Buddhist Youth Association (GĐPT Kim Quang) a.k.a. Vietnamese Foundation for Youth and Education (VFYE), a non-profit organization, is also known unofficially as Kim Quang Foundation. From its inception, GĐPT Kim Quang was loved and supported by many monks and nuns in the area. From 1983 until 2003, GĐPT Kim Quang was guided and nurtured by our late respected Venerable Thích Thiện Trì. After the passing of our Most Venerable Thích Thiện Trì, Abbot Thích Thiện Duyên became our teacher and spiritual guide. Under the unconditional love, care, and wisdom of both teachers, GĐPT Kim Quang has and continues to grow in membership and program enrichment every day. With a current membership of above 200 youth members, the primary goal and objective of GĐPT Kim Quang is to nurture youths to become responsible citizens who will positively contribute to society according to the teachings of Buddha and Vietnamese values. For over 35 years, countless youths in Northern California have entered our organization and gone on to become successful civil servants, teachers, health professionals, business owners, etc. The secondary goal for GĐPT Kim Quang is the retention and promotion of the beautiful Vietnamese Culture and Heritage for our youths. Some of the social and cultural activities offered by GĐPT Kim Quang include: Academia: Kim Quang Buddhist Youth Scholarship, Vietnamese Program, Leadership Conferences, Training Camps, and Enrichment Program. Volunteer: World Peace Prayers, nursing home visits, providing service to the homeless, and park cleaning. Social Activities: Annual summer camp, field trips, bonding activities, Lion Dance Team and Dragon Dance Team, Art and Crafts, Dancing. Cultural Celebration: Buddha’s Birthday (Vesak), Mid-Autumn Festival, Parents’ day, and Vietnamese’ New Year (Tet) Festival. GĐPT Kim Quang – còn có tên là gọi là Vietnamese Foundation for Youth and Education (VFYE), là một tổ chức bất vụ lợi, được thành lập vào tháng 3 năm 1978 và chính thức ra mắt vào Lễ Vu Lan cùng năm. GĐPT Kim Quang đã được hun đúc và dạy dỗ bởi cố Hòa Thượng Thích Thiện Trì. Thầy Cố Vấn Giáo Hạnh hiện thời là Thượng Tọa Thích Thiện Duyên, Trụ trì Chùa Kim Quang. Dưới sự thương yêu, đùm bọc và hướng dẫn của Thầy, Kim Quang Foundation ngày càng phát triển. Hiện nay có đến trên 200 anh chị em đang sinh hoạt dưới mái chùa thân yêu. GĐPT Kim Quang được đặc dưới sự điều động của Bác Gia Trưởng và Ban huynh trưởng. Trong suốt gần hơn 35 năm qua, có biết bao nhiêu Huynh trưởng và đoàn sinh đã đến và đi với GĐPT Kim Quang. GĐPT Kim Quang vẫn không ngừng duy trì và phát huy văn hoá Việt Nam và Phật giáo đến bao thế hệ thanh thiếu niên trong vùng. Chương trình sinh hoạt của GĐPT Kim Quang bao gồm Phật Pháp, Việt Ngữ, Giáo dục, Hoạt động thanh niên, Chương Trình Chuyên Năng và Văn Thể Mỹ.
